Bill Baxter, Trustee

Bill Baxter

Bill is a retired deputy chief for CAL FIRE, and served for two years as the Department's statewide program manager for peer support, substance abuse assistance, employee assistance and critical incident stress management program(s). He has a combined total of 38 years of wildland fire suppression experience with both CAL FIRE and the U.S. Forest Service. In July of 2004, Bill survived a near fatal helicopter accident on a fire in Northern California. The post-traumatic stress injuries from this accident were severe but Bill was able to return to full duty because of the professional therapy and peer support provided by the First Responder Support Network. Bill has received extensive training in the field of peer support and group crisis intervention, and feels honored at this point in his life to serve as a peer within the WCPR family.
