Emily A. Keram MD

Emily is a faculty member of the UCSF Psychiatry and the Law Program. She was previously the founding Director of the Santa Rosa VA Mental Health Clinic where she developed and implemented individual and group treatment programs for veterans with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Emily continues to treat individuals, including law enforcement officers, with PTSD and other issues. She has presented on various aspects of Suicide by Cop at the FBI Academy, the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law and to law enforcement agencies throughout California. Emily provides training on mental illness through San Francisco Police Department’s CIT program and served on the POST committee that developed a model training program regarding law enforcement officers’ contacts with the mentally ill. Emily completed her medical and psychiatric training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a graduate of the first class of the United States Department of Justice Fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at the Federal Evaluation Center in Butner, North Carolina.
